Everton manager David Moyes has revealed his fears over Jack Grealish’s injury.
Grealish is facing several weeks out due to a stress fracture in his foot which was confirmed following last weekend’s win over his boyhood club Aston Villa.
The Blues confirmed on Tuesday that the loanee England international would undergo further assessment on the problem from which they are awaiting the results.
But Moyes disclosed that Grealish picked up a calf issue at Villa Park in addition to his foot problem, which could require surgery that could rule him out for some time
“He felt it for a couple of weeks,” admitted the Everton manager..
“He is a boy who doesn’t want to be injured and he wants to play every game. He picked up a calf injury in the game [at Villa]. He got a kick in front of the bench.
“He came in on Monday for treatment. We got it checked and then he went to see the surgeon to get it checked again. That was it.
“I asked him and he said he’s had it for a wee while, he could just feel it.”
He added: “It’s a real pity for the boy. He’s been back at it, enjoying it and doing what he is good at. He has been supported brilliantly by the supporters at Everton.
“They think so much of him and it’s just disappointing he’s going to have some time off. He’s given us something different. We have to praise him for that.
““He’s had a little dip here and there but most players would do. You have to remember he hadn’t played many 90 minutes before he came to Everton.”
