Everton have confirmed that Jack Grealish has suffered a foot injury.
The playmaker has been a prominent figure for David Moyes’ side this season since agreeing a loan move from Manchester City last summer.
But Grealish is now facing a potential spell on the sidelines after being laid low in the wake of Sunday’s impressive win over his boyhood club Aston Villa.
The Blues are braced to be without the England international at a critical juncture with just four points separating them from a Champions League spot.
“Everton Football Club can confirm Jack Grealish has sustained a foot injury,” read a club statement.
“Jack is currently under the care of the club’s medical team and will also be reviewed by a specialist in the coming days.
“Further updates will be provided in due course.”
Moyes’s squad has been decimated by injury and absences with seven senior players unavailable for Everton’s first league win at Villa Park in a decade.
Grealish’s attacking cohort Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is stepping up his recovery from a hamstring problem while defender Jarrad Branthwaite is doing similar.
Charly Alcaraz and Tim Iroegbunam are also working their way back while Micheal Keane will serve the last game of a three-match ban against Leeds.
However Everton expect to have Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye back for next Monday’s home clash after Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations success.
