Arrests over woman’s city centre hotel death

Three people have been arrested after a woman’s death at a Liverpool city centre hotel.

Police were called to The White Star Line Hotel on James Street just after 3.20am on Saturday (August 1) to reports a 40-year-old woman has become unwell.

Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended but she was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

Detectives are currently treating the woman’s death as unexplained with a post mortem carried out and the results have been withheld pending toxicology reports.

As part of the ongoing enquiries, a 47-year-old man from Kirkby and a 34-year-old woman from Liverpool were both arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 31-year-old man from Liverpool was also detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three have been conditionally bailed while the investigation continues.
