Man charged with four-death Huyton crash

A man has been charged over a fatal crash which killed four people in Huyton.

Jack Diggle, Benjamin Dooley, Andrew Roberts and Craig Shackleton-Brady died after a Cupra Formentor collided with a lamppost on East Prescot Road last month.

A fifth passenger survived and was taken to hospital before later being discharged.

Detectives have now confirmed they have charged James Diggle, from West Derby, with four counts of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving.

The 27-year-old will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (August 8).

“As criminal proceedings are now active, we would ask that the public refrain from commenting on, or speculating about, the circumstances of this case online, as this could unintentionally prejudice the judicial process,” read a Merseyside Police statement.

“Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the four men who tragically lost their lives and we ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time.”
