Two teenagers have been arrested after a man was left fighting for life by an attack in Dingle.
Police were called to Park Road shortly before 10pm on Saturday (August 8) to reports that a group of six males assaulted the victim outside a takeaway.
An electric bike was used in the attack which saw the man in his 30s taken to hospital where his condition is currently described as critical.
Officers attended the scene and arrested two males while the electric bike believed to have been used in the assault has also been seized.
A 16-year-old from Wavertree was detained on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent while a 14-year-old from Dingle was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.
Both remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Gemma Ellerton said: “Although we have arrested two males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account.
“We understand the concern that such an incident will cause, especially given the ages of those involved and the busy area in which this occurred.
“With this I urge people in the area who saw the incident, or suspect a young person you know of having been involved, to please come forward and check any devices which may hold images or footage leading up to the assault.
“Any information no matter how small, may help the investigation.”
