A number of historic buildings were cloaked in red light yesterday evening as a mark of solidarity towards yesterday’s Hillsborough inquest verdict.

The inquest in Warrington on Tuesday morning revealed that the 96 Liverpool that lost their lives at Hillsborough on April 15th, were unlawfully killed.
The principal building to show its support was St.George’s Hall, a building synonymous with the fight for justice, displaying banners of ‘TRUTH’ and ‘ JUSTICE’ alongside 96 candles along the steps of the building.
Other building showing their support, by lighting up red, included Liverpool Town Hall and The Municipal Buildings, both on Dale Street.

The Everyman (Hope Street) and Playhouse (Williamson Square) Theatres also produced stunning visual displays of red coloured solidarity.
Whilst restaurants Viva Brazil and Cau also set their outside lights to red.
The verdicts followed at 27 year battle for the victims families and Liverpool Football Club, to establish the truth surrounding the disaster and to gain justice for those who died.
