Jurgen Klopp offers fresh Liverpool FC hope to Sakho

Mamadou Sakho’s road to redemption at Liverpool is set to continue after Jurgen Klopp said that the fallout from his social media outburst was ‘done’.

The French defender launched an unprovoked attack last weekend during which he accused Anfield officials of ‘lying’ about his current situation.

But Sakho made steps towards a first-team comeback on Wednesday when he played his first competitive game since April for the Reds’ under-23 squad.

Klopp described the 26-year-old’s conduct as ‘not positive’ last weekend but appeared to have softened his stance following the run-out against Wolfsburg.

When asked about whether Sakho should focus on keeping quiet, he said: “Two things, that’s not I would say a rule for Mamadou Sakho, it’s a rule for every player, work hard, do your best.

“All the rest is, I spoke to the team and I spoke to Mama and we spoke together and that’s it.

“From my side everything is done and here we are.”

Sakho is expected to be recalled by Liverpool’s second string when they travel to Portman Road to take on Ipswich Town this Sunday in the Premier League Cup.
