Baby injured in masked West Derby bus attack

A young baby suffered injuries during an attack on a bus in West Derby.

The bus was forced to stop on East Prescot Road after a group of males dressed in black and wearing balaclavas put a large piece of wood in its way.

Bricks were then thrown at the vehicle during the incident that was close to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital at around 10.10pm last Friday (October 30).

A window on the bus was smashed which caused cuts to the face and head of a nine-month-old boy, who was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Merseyside Police attended the scene and arrested a 15-year-old nearby on suspicion of assault and criminal damage before he was conditionally bailed.

Five other male suspects were also spoken to by officers and either dispersed from the area or were taken back home.
