Merseyside Police is investigating a complaint relating to officers’ conduct.
Patrols were originally called to Alder Wood Avenue on Friday evening (October 30) following multiple reports of anti-social behaviour in Speke.
A video filmed of the incident has been widely circulated on social media that depicts a male officer appearing to aggressively reprimand a young person.
Following the incident, the force confirmed that it has received a complaint which has since been referred to their professional standards department.
“We are aware of a social media video circulating that shows an incident in Speke last night (Friday 30 October),” read a statement.
“Officers were called to Alder Wood Avenue after we received multiple reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
“We can confirm we have today (Saturday 31 October) received a complaint in relation to this incident.
“The matter is currently being reviewed by Merseyside Police’s Professional Standards Department.
“As a complaint has been received, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.
“While we look to establish the full circumstances of what happened, we would urge people not to speculate and avoid sharing rumours or misinformation.”
