Liverpool FC set to replace Alberto Moreno for Burnley trip

James Milner is in line to replace Alberto Moreno for Liverpool’s trip to Burnley.

Saturday’s game at Turf Moor will see the Reds’ vice-captain return from a heel injury which saw him miss last weekend’s Premier League opener with Arsenal.

And Milner is likely to find himself deputising at left-back in place of Moreno, despite Jurgen Klopp planning to persist with the Spaniard.

Liverpool shelved their previous plans to sign fresh competition for the former Sevilla defender after failing to in their efforts to land both Ben Chilwell and Jonas Hector.

Instead Klopp is prepared to utilise his current squad options, including midfielder Milner, to supplement any potential shortfall in the problem area.

Moreno suffered another error-prone outing during Liverpool’s 4-3 win at the Emirates Stadium, conceding an early first-half penalty with a foul on Theo Walcott.
