Alberto Moreno’s future safe as Liverpool FC end left-back search

Liverpool will keep the faith with Alberto Moreno after ending their search for a new left-back.

A pursuit of Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell ended earlier in the summer while the Reds refused to meet Koln’s £20 million valuation for Jonas Hector.

Moreno’s position at Anfield has remained under intense scrutiny, not least in the aftermath of last weekend’s opening Premier League win over Arsenal.

He conceded an early penalty with a foul on Theo Walcott and failing to track the Gunners man when he scored later in the first half.

But the Daily Express claim that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to work with Moreno rather than actively pursue a replacement in the current transfer window.

Should injury or poor form force the Spaniard out of the side, Liverpool can call upon a host of alternatives including Joe Gomez, right-back Nathaniel Clyne and even new centre-back Ragnar Klavan.

Vice-captain James Milner, a midfielder by trade, has also been earmarked as a makeshift option in the role.
