Three of Liverpool’s opening Premier League games have been switched.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will still travel for an opening day encounter with newly promoted Norwich City on August 14 but are now set for a late kick-off.
The Carrow Road fixture has been pushed back to a 5.30pm start as the Reds face slight tweaks to their original schedule for the beginning of 2021/22.
Anfield’s first home outing against Burnley seven days later is due to kick off at 12.30pm while Chelsea’s visit on August 28 is confirmed as a 5.30pm start.
Liverpool’s clash with Norwich will see them facing a top-flight newcomer in their first game for the third successive occasion since the 2019/20 campaign.
Ironically the Canaries also provided the opposition in that first instance, when they lost 4-1 to the future Premier League champions on Merseyside.
A capacity crowd is expected to be in place for the Clarets’ trip to Anfield for a first time since March 2020 as coronavirus restrictions are set to be lifted.
Despite the Government pushing back the final stage of its lockdown road map to July 19, it is not expected to hinder plans for the new football season.
It will coincide with the roll-out of a 12-month trial of rail seating inside the stadium in attempts to reduce the risks associated with persistent standing.
Liverpool were allowed to have 10,000 fans present at their final day with with Crystal Palace, which saw the hosts finish third with a 2-0 victory.
Previously 2,000 fans were at the stadium for games against Wolves, Tottenham and West Brom in December prior to Tier 3 restrictions taking effect.
