Liverpool handed PL season newcomer start

Liverpool will kick off their new Premier League season away to Norwich City.

Wednesday’s reveal of the 2021/22 fixtures saw Jurgen Klopp’s side pitted against the newly-promoted Canaries on the opening weekend of August 14.

It mirrors the start of the 2019/20 campaign which saw Anfield’s three-decade wait to be crowned English champions again memorably brought to an end.

Following the Carrow Road trip on August 14, the Reds face back-to-back home games against Burnley and Chelsea on August 21 and 28 respectively.

The first Merseyside derby of the season takes place at Goodison Park on Tuesday, November 30 with the return clash at Anfield on Saturday, April 23.

Christmas sees Liverpool welcome Leeds United on Boxing Day before an away double-header against Leicester City and Chelsea on December 28 and January 1.

Anfield will host the season’s final game for a fourth consecutive year with Wolves travelling to Merseyside, just as they did at the climax of 2018/19.

All dates and kick-off times are subject to change and television demands.
