Joe Gomez has signalled his commitment to Liverpool with a new six-year deal.
Gomez became a prominent fixture in the Reds’ defence before a leg fracture during last Wednesday’s win over Burnley ruled him out for the next six weeks.
But the 21-year-old’s standing at Anfield remains enhanced by an improved contract which will secure his long-term future with the club until June 2024.
A £3.5 million signing from Charlton Athletic in summer 2015, Gomez overcame an early injury setback to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans.
Regular call-ups for England have also reflected the versatile centre-back’s development while he has flourished in partnering Virgil van Dijk this season.
He said: “Signing this new deal means the world to me.
“I’ve been at the club a few years now and have had the pleasure to play for Liverpool and experience what that means, so I am delighted to get the chance to extend my contract here.
“I love the club, I love playing and learning here, and I am happy for that to continue.”
