Liverpool duo ruled out of Red Star clash

Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita will miss Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Red Star Belgrade.

Henderson was withdrawn midway through the Reds’ win over Huddersfield with hamstring problem that has ruled him out of Wednesday’s Group C encounter.

The England international will also be sidelined for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they prepare to take on Cardiff City at Anfield on Saturday due to the injury.

Keita missed last weekend’s trip to the Kirklees Stadium due to a similar injury sustained while representing Guinea during the recent international break.

Although the midfielder has not been discounted for the Bluebirds’ visit, the clash with Serbian champions Red Star has arrived too soon for him to return.

Klopp also confirmed that Sadio Mane is back in contention ahead of the Serbian champions’ visit after undergoing surgery on a hand injury last week.

He said: “Sadio looked good in training, to be honest, in the last two days. He trained completely normal so if nothing happens, he is in contention.

“Naby’s in a good way already. Again he’s outside running and all that stuff so we have to see. We will take it now day by day.

“We cannot put any pressure on that so we have to see when he is fully fit. It should not be that long anymore hopefully.

“Hendo’s got a little hamstring injury in the game .

“From how I understood, not too serious but serious enough that he is not available tomorrow and at the weekend. From that day on, we will count the days as well.

“Hopefully [against] Arsenal, he could be back but for the next two, not available.”
