Jordan Henderson is set to miss Liverpool’s next six games through injury.
Henderson was absent for the Reds’ win over Swansea on Boxing Day after picking up a hamstring problem during his side’s draw with Arsenal.
However the midfielder will also be sidelined for Saturday’s visit of Leicester City to Anfield as well as Liverpool’s trip to Burnley on New Year’s Day.
Jurgen Klopp also faces being without Henderson for his side’s FA Cup clash against Everton as well as a further three Premier League matches next month.
They include the visit of champions-elect Manchester City on January 14 and back-to-back trips to Huddersfield Town and Swansea.
Henderson has struggled with injuries during the previous two seasons, making no more than 27 appearances for Liverpool in either campaign.
The England international has played 23 games in all competitions this term.
