Liverpool new boy Dominic Solanke helped fire England’s under-20s to the World Cup final.
Solanke struck twice as the Young Lions overcame Italy to reach the final for the first time in 51 years after suffering an early setback in South Korea.
The incoming Reds striker pounced early in the second half after a shot by future Anfeld team mate Sheyi Ojo was parried by Italian goalkeeper Andrea Zaccagno.
Jonjoe Kenny, Ademola Lookman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued Everton’s strong representation at this year’s tournament in the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
The trio linked up well throughout the second half before Lookman pulled England ahead when another Ojo delivery fell to him to slot the ball home.
Just 11 minutes later, Solanke ensured his country would reach this weekend’s showpiece affair with a long-range effort that Zaccagno failed to keep out.
England will now face Venezuela in the final on Sunday at 11am BST in Suwon.
