Liverpool FC hopeful of securing Lovren’s future

Liverpool are confident of securing Dejan Lovren’s future after reopening contract talks.

Lovren has two years remaining on his existing deal but talks between the Reds’ hierarchy and the player’s representatives have stalled in recent months.

Having already tied down Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana to new long-term deals, Liverpool are now turning their attention back to the Croatian defender.

He is hopeful of making a long-awaited return to action for this weekend’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton following a spell beset by injury.

The 27-year-old last made a first-team appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea and been an unused substitute on two occasions since.

Lovren recently visited a specialist in Germany in a bid to resolve a persistent knee problem which has plagued him regularly since the turn of the calendar year.
