Daniel Sturridge will miss Liverpool’s game with Sunderland after suffering a fresh injury.
Sturridge has endured a difficult season for the Reds after failing to secure a regular starting berth but was expected to lead the line against the Black Cats.
However the England international was sidelined by a calf problem earlier this week which has ended his hopes of making his fifth start of the campaign.
Jurgen Klopp is also set to be without Adam Lallana for this afternoon’s Anfield clash after he endured a second week of recovery on an aggravated groin problem.
The winger suffered a recurrence of the injury originally picked up against Swansea City during England’s friendly with Spain on November 15.
