A third Liverpool school has been the subject of a targeted hoax threat.
Parents and carers at The Belvedere Academy were informed that the education facility was put under lockdown on Monday (January 26).
Merseyside Police swept the building in Toxteth before giving the all-clear.
Executive principal Julie Taylor confirmed that the email threat was similar to ones received at two other named secondary schools in the city last week.
West Derby School and Holly Lodge were both targeted with the former being shut last Wednesday (January 21) in response to the ‘serious emergency’.
However police and Liverpool City Council later insisted that ‘no credible threat’ had been made to either school through the suspected hoax.
Superintendent Anthony Fairhurst said: “We can confirm that enquiries are ongoing after a report of malicious communications at Belvedere Academy in Liverpool at around 8.35am this morning (Monday January 26).
“At this stage it is believed to be a hoax, and we will be looking to identify those involved and take appropriate action.
“Our officers are currently at the school and are providing advice and reassurance to parents, carers, students and residents as enquiries continue.”
