A north Liverpool school has been closed by a suspected hoax threat.
West Derby School informed parents that it will be shut on Wednesday (January 21) as it responded to a ‘serious emergency’ believed to be malicious communications.
Merseyside Police have since confirmed a number of schools in the area have also received emails of this nature but are currently treating them as potential hoaxes.
Chief Inspector Dave Currie said: “We understand the concern and rumours that can arise from such incidents.
“As a result, we are liaising with all schools and providing advice and reassurance as enquiries continue.
“The relevant schools are also communicating with parents and carers.
“Based on the information we have received and assessed, there has been no requirement for those schools to close.”
