Daniel Sturridge will miss Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal due to a fresh injury setback.
The England international missed over a week after falling ill after travelling to the club’s mid-season training camp in La Manga at the end of last month.
Sturridge already faces a fight for his Anfield future as Jurgen Klopp is preparing to weigh up whether to retain him beyond the end of the current campaign.
But the striker’s injury woes are set to continue after the Reds manager revealed that he is sidelined as he prepares to take on the Gunners on Saturday evening.
He said: “Daniel was ill, really ill in truth.
“Now he has a strain in the hip muscle in a rehab session.
“It’s not the biggest one, it’s very small, but it keeps him out of normal training for another week.
“He can already train but not full team training.”

Liverpool are also set to be without captain Jordan Henderson after he suffered heavy bruising on his foot which ruled him out of Monday’s defeat to Leicester City.
Klopp, however, remains hopeful that Dejan Lovren can win his race against time to be fit enough to feature against Arsene Wenger’s side at Anfield tomorrow.
“For Jordan it is too soon for sure, it will take time,” added Klopp.
“Dejan we will see. He took part in part of team training the day before yesterday and full team training yesterday. Now we have to see how he reacts.
“He will be involved in training again if nobody tells me anything different and then we must make a decision.
“He was out pretty much for four weeks, training three days, so at the end we must make a decision. I’m not sure about it.”
