Lovren set for Liverpool FC return against Arsenal

Dejan Lovren could make his Liverpool comeback against Arsenal this weekend.

Lovren missed the Reds’ previous three games and last month travelled to Germany to seek specialist treatment over a persistent knee problem.

But the defender is now in contention for a return to action after rejoining training on Thursday, just 48 hours before the Gunners’ visit to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has utilised midfielder Lucas Leiva as a makeshift centre-back in Lovren’s absence alongside Joel Matip with varying degrees of success.

Should the Croatia international fail to win his race to be fit in time for Saturday evening’s encounter, Klopp may consider replacing Lucas with Ragnar Klavan.

The Brazilian found himself exposed during the 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday, having previously excelled against Tottenham’s Harry Kane recently.
