Jose Mourinho launched a stinging attack on Liverpool following Manchester United’s goalless draw.
The scoreless stalemate was a first between the sides since September 2005 as United recorded their lowest possession since Premier League statistics began in 2003.
But Mourinho claimed that the greater question of tactical shortcomings should have belonged to Jurgen Klopp’s side rather than the Red Devils.
He said: “Last season United won here. Liverpool had 14 shots on target and United had one.
“How many shots had Liverpool on target today? Two.
“Two shots with 65 per cent possesion, you have to be critical of Liverpool – not of us.”
“You like to say they are the last wonder of the world in attacking football,” he added.
“But they are also a team that defends and thinks defensively.”
