Liverpool FC preparing to fend off dual Coutinho interest

Liverpool are hoping to tie down Philippe Coutinho to a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from Barcelona.

Coutinho has attracted interest from a host of elite European clubs in recent years, with Paris Saint-Germain seeing a £30 million bid rebuffed in June.

Reports in France claim that the Ligue 1 champions are plotting a money-no-object bid for the Brazilian in the forthcoming January transfer window.

Barcelona have also remained in the background whenever the playmaker’s future is broached – something the Reds are also keen to banish.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Anfield officials are preparing a new bumper deal to extend Coutinho’s stay by a futher two years, until summer 2022.

Adam Lallana is another who will be in line for an improved contract after impressing Jurgen Klopp during his first 12 months as Liverpool manager.
