Barcelona icon Rivaldo has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Liverpool.
During a five-year stay at the Camp Nou, the Brazilian playmaker won successive La Liga titles as well as scooping the Ballon d’Or accolade.
But a move to Anfield was a viable prospect as the 44-year-old has revealed that he received offers from the Reds during Gerard Houllier’s time in charge.
“Yes, I did receive a few offers back then from Liverpool and Manchester [United] when I was playing for Barcelona,” he told Squawka.
“There was also another small club that tried.
“Teams that I admire in England are Chelsea and Manchester [United].”
