John Toshack has addressed claims he is suffering from dementia.
Toshack’s son Cameron stated earlier this week that the Liverpool legend is currently experiencing early symptoms connected to the debilitating condition.
He claimed that the 77-year-old can still recall intricate details from his playing and coaching career but is experiencing some short-term memory problems.
However Toshack emphatically denied suggestions from his current home in Girona, Spain on Friday during a telephone interview with BBC Wales.
“I’m going on for 80 years of age, my memory isn’t what it used to be, but it’s not dementia, I haven’t had a diagnosis,” said the former striker.
“I’m not as young as I used to be and I did have a bad attack of Covid when it was going around, but thankfully I’m ok now.
“I do everything on my own, but like anyone at my age I’m not getting any younger.”
He added: “I’ve got my old football injuries which are still here, and I can’t get to the far post as well now.”
