Liverpool have confirmed their squad for the upcoming tour of Asia.
A 29-man delegation flew out to the continent on Sunday evening ahead of taking on AC Milan in Hong Kong and Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
But the Premier League champions will be without Federico Chiesa, who was a notable omission amid ongoing speculation over his long-term future.
The Italy international has been linked with a return to his homeland after an underwhelming first year at Anfield despite collecting a title winners’ medal.
However Chiesa’s absence is understood to be related to a minor issue picked up in a behind-closed-doors game with Stoke City earlier on Sunday.
He had featured and scored for Arne Slot’s side in a 5-0 victory over their Championship counterparts in the game at the AXA Training Centre.
Luis Diaz, who failed to feature against the Potters, was named despite his own future appearing uncertain as Bayern Munich continue to pursue a deal.
Also included were several players who are anticipated to leave the Reds this summer in Darwin Nunez, Ben Doak, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton.
Hugo Ekitike is set to join them on the tour once his switch from Eintracht Frankfurt is completed, despite premature reports of an agreed deal.
Ekitke was a notable absentee for his side’s friendly with FSV Frankfurt on Saturday, after which manager Dino Toppmoller hinted at the impending move.
“He didn’t play, but you can imagine everything else,” said Toppmoller.
“This is a bitter loss. We lost our absolute top player in the winter with Omar Marmoush [to Manchester City].
“The other player stepped in and developed sensationally. It’s quite possible that that’s history, too.
“So I think we need to temper expectations a bit overall.”
