Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho will learn the outcome of his failed drugs test by early July.
Sakho tested positive for a banned substance following the Europa League win over Manchester United in March and was subsequently handed a provisional 30-day suspension by UEFA officials.
That saw the France international miss the remaining eight games of the Reds’ season run-in which culminated in a Europa League final defeat to Sevilla.
European football’s governing body has conducted its own investigation into whether traces of the fat-burner found in the centre-back’s sample should have appeared on their list of banned substances.
Sakho is likely to discover whether he will be handed an extended suspension at a hearing set to take place at the beginning of next month.
If punished, the 26-year-old faces the prospect of as little as six months suspended from professional football.
