Liverpool midfielder Joao Teixeira has confirmed that he will join Porto this summer.
Teixeira arrived at Anfield in 2012 from Sporting Lisbon, having impressed during the Portuguese side’s emphatic 3-0 win at Anfield in the NextGen Series.
But in the four years that followed, he failed to force his way into the Reds’ regular first-team plans, making just eight senior appearances.
Now, the 23-year-old has revealed he is set to return to his homeland with Porto as a free agent when his current Liverpool contract expires at the end of this month.
He said: “I am from the north [of Portugal] and to wear blue and white [shirt] has always been a dream for me.
“Now I can work at my club, in my region and my country.
“I had other offers but do not want anything other than to wear the blue and white.”
