Liverpool have started talks with Emre Can over a long-term contract to reflect his development at Anfield.
The 22-year-old, who is currently featuring in Germany’s squad at the Euro 2016, played a pivotal role in Jurgen Klopp’s first season as Reds manager as the club progressed to the Europa League final.
Can is halfway into the four-year contract he signed upon his £9.75 million arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014.
According to reports in The Guardian, Anfield officials have offered Can extended and improved terms that will reward his form and growing responsibility within Klopp’s team.
Can could sign the new deal before the start of next season, with Liverpool are said to be hopeful of a quick resolution to negotiations with the player’s representatives.
