Plans for Liverpool FC’s new Anfield megastore revealed

Liverpool’s plans for a new megastore at Anfield stadium have been revealed.

A proposed site on Walton Breck Road will sit adjacent to The Albert pub, a popular match day venue with supporters, as part of the club’s Main Stand renovation project.

Liverpool are set to incorporate a cafe in the two-floored structure which will also see the pre-match fan zone, currently stationed on Anfield Road, relocated to land behind the store.

Planning permission was granted by Liverpool City Council at the end of May but the specific details of the project, drawn up by city-based architects KKA, are subject to further approval.

The Reds have enlisted the services of heritage consultants Hurley, whose senior planner Peter Rowe outlined the club’s argument in the submitted proposal.

He said “The layout of the proposed club store is driven by the aspiration to deliver a ‘gateway’ building that sits at the principal entry to the stadium, provides an active frontage to Walton Breck Road, add definition to the adjacent Fanzone, and animates the route to the stadium turnstiles.”
