Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino appear doubtful for the Carabao Cup final.

Jota has been sidelined by an ankle ligament injury sustained in Liverpool’s win over Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Firmino also picked up a muscle problem after replacing the Portugal international for Jurgen Klopp’s side midway through their San Siro victory.

Both players missed the Reds’ 3-1 comeback win over Norwich City last weekend and face a race against time to feature in the Wembley showpiece.

Klopp confirmed that the pair will sit out Wednesday’s visit of Leeds United, casting doubts on their chances of being passed fit to take on Chelsea.

He said: “For tomorrow, no chance. And then the final, we will see.

“I really don’t know in the moment. It would be easy to say now ‘no’, but we will see.

“They are [pushing] but they were not on the pitch for training so that’s not a good sign.

“We have to see what we can do with the boys in the next few days and then we make a decision later in the week.”
