Jurgen Klopp’s famous salute is set to adorn Anfield’s new Main Stand as part of plans submitted to Liverpool City Council.
Liverpool submitted a planning application for a giant poster shows the team with arms raised hand-in-hand saluting fans alongside their plans for the club store facing Walton Breck Road, submitted in March.
The application details claim the image is of a “Bundesliga-style team celebration that Jurgen has introduced since his arrival; the squad with linked hands, arms aloft, acknowledging the fans in joint celebration.
“The gesture presents a powerful expression of togetherness, unity and belonging and could easily be extended to encompass a wider range of LFC stakeholders and demographic groups – fans, LFC Ladies, supporter groups, local community, ethnicity, gender, disability etc.
“The sanguine image and ‘world family’ message should avoid any potential planning issues.
“No other Premier League club seems to use this style of post-match celebration; with the German connection in mind, LFC appears to have taken ownership in England.”
Liverpool said within the application, submitted on May 27, that the images are subject to change and only indicative of what it may look like.
No date has been set for when a decision will be made by council planners.
