World-class Klopp ‘big factor’ for Karius in Liverpool FC transfer

Loris Karius believes that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is among the best coaches in the world.

Karius, a £4.7 million addition from Bundesliga side Mainz, enjoyed a superb campaign for the Europa League qualifiers, establishing himself as one of Germany’s best ‘keepers.

The imposing 22-year-old stopper, who will officially complete his move to Merseyside when the transfer window opens on July 1, showed little hesitation in plumping for Liverpool after the Reds declared an interest in his services.

And speaking to Sport Bild, the new signing pinpointed Jurgen Klopp as one of the key reasons behind his decision to join the Anfield club, labelling his fellow German ‘one of the best coaches in the world.’

Karius said: “He was a big factor, because he is one of the best coaches in the world and has shown how well he brings young players forward.

“But there is also the tradition of the club, the atmosphere, which is not so common in the world. And of course, such a transfer leaves you financially improved. All in all, it was the perfect total package.”
