Franz Beckenbauer today urged Mario Gotze to join Liverpool.
Gotze struck twice for Bayern Munich as they ended their Bundesliga campaign with a 3-1 win over Hannover but is set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.
Incoming Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti has told the World Cup winner that he is free to pursue a future away from the Bavarian club.
Reports in Germany have claimed that the Reds have signalled their intent with a £19.6 million bid for Gotze.
And Bayern legend Beckenbauer believes a heavily touted reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield is the logical conclusion for the 23-year-old.
“I would, in his place, healing go to a place where I feel comfortable, ” he told Sky Deutschland.
“I have the impression that Mario has not felt right in Munich and also has not been understood, so that he could show his full potential.
“I would in his place go where I am comfortable and follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp.”
