UEFA increase Liverpool FC’s allocation for Europa League final

UEFA have handed Liverpool an increased allocation for next week’s Europa League final in Basel.

Owing to a reduced allocation by Sevilla, the Reds were granted an additional 1,600 seats by European football’s governing body for next Wednesday’s showpiece in Switzerland.

The reigning holders only took up 7,000 of their allotted 9,000 seats which has allowed the Reds to take their own standing in Basel up to 10,600.

But UEFA have refused to relinquish a further 400 seats at St Jakob-Par, which will remain empty for purposes of segregation.

Liverpool’s original allocation was undermined by a preexisting agreement with former shareholder who sold to the club’s reviled ex-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
