Liverpool have seven players nominated in this year’s Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gini Wijnaldum were all included in the 30-man running.
Alisson is also vying for the Yashin Award which is given to the best goalkeeper but faces competition from both the Premier League and Europe’s elite.
The Brazil international was crowned Goalkeeper of the Year in both UEFA and FIFA’s annual awards after helping the Reds to Champions League glory.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were the most nominated club for this year’s Ballon d’Or, with Van Dijk among the favourites to take home the individual accolade.
“I am not sure who is not on the list from our boys! It is nice,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com.
“We have had so much attention and reward for the things that happened last year and that’s all good. There is one more big day and then last season is closed.
“The boys deserved it. It is the big one and I am not sure it happened too often that seven players from one club were on the shortlist and that’s good.
“In the end, someone will decide it. It’s nice and it’s what the boys deserve for the season they played last year.”
Michael Owen remains the only Liverpool player to win the Ballon d’Or in 2001 while Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres were all runners-up.
France Football magazine will announce the winner in Paris on December 2.
