‘Week of miracles’ spurs Liverpool title hopes

Jurgen Klopp hopes Liverpool can cap off a ‘week of miracles’ by winning the Premier League title.

Sunday’s final league game of the season against Wolves comes just five days after the Reds pulled off an improbable comeback over Barcelona.

Last season’s Champions League finalists overturned a three-goal deficit to book their place in the June 1 showpiece at Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Tottenham joined their domestic rivals with a similarly heroic performance to overcome Ajax in the other semi-final of Europe’s elite club competition.

Klopp’s side are hoping a similar pattern can repeat in the title race, where Manchester City hold a one-point lead heading into their finale against Brighton.

“It would be cool It was a week of, I’m not sure miracles, but of big football moments,” said the Liverpool manager.

“From our point of view, there could be a big football moment for us as well on the weekend. It would be nice [but] the week is not over yet.

“Sunday counts to this week not for next week. So, of course we go for that.

“But nothing changed really, we knew it before. I think most of the people expected me to sit here today and say, OK, after not being in the Champions League final it’s pretty difficult to become champions.

“Now we are in the Champions League final it’s still difficult to become champions. But the only thing we can do is to win the game.

“In this situation obviously it looks like Wolves and Brighton, they are there, City will win and we will win and at the end City are champions.

“But there’s a game to play.”
