Oxlade-Chamberlain set for Liverpool return

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will make a long-awaited return to Liverpool action this week.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has not featured for the Reds since suffering a knee injury during April’s Champions League semi-final first leg win over Roma.

The England international is now set to continue his rehabilitation with an appearance for the club’s under-23 side in Friday’s game with Derby County.

Jurgen Klopp previously expected Oxlade-Chamberlain to feature for Liverpool’s first-team during the final nine games of their current Premier League campaign.

Should he come through the PL2 Division 1 against the Rams unscathed, the midfielder’s senior comeback is likely to be just a matter of weeks away.

Monday’s mini-derby with Everton was considered too risky for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was originally forecast to miss the entire season through the injury.

Following a £40 million move from Arsenal, the 25-year-old made 42 appearances in his debut season and score five goals in all competitions.
