Police probe anti-Muslim abuse aimed at Salah

Police are investigating claims of Islamophobic abuse against Mohamed Salah.

Video footage taken during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at West Ham appears to capture a home supporter making offensive references about the Egyptian’s religion.

In the recording, a man can be heard shouting ‘Salah, you f*****g Muslim, f****g Muslim c****!’ as the Reds forward took a corner in the first half.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that it is aware of the video, which has since circulated on social media and are in the process of reviewing it.

West Ham are also investigating the incident in conjunction with the force and will attempt to identify the culprit using CCTV footage at the London Stadium.

“At West Ham United, we have a zero tolerance policy to any form of violent or abusive behaviour,” said a club spokesperson.
