Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Jurgen Klopp have swept the Premier League’s December awards.
Klopp’s latest Manager of the Month accolade comes on the back of the Reds opening up a four-point lead in the table ahead of closest rivals Manchester City.
The current leaders won all seven of their league games last month, including victories over Everton, Manchester United and Arsenal, and scored 22 goals.
Central to that form was Van Dijk, who beat the likes of Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and even teammate Mohamed Salah to be crowned Player of the Month.
He became the first defender to win the award since Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen in March 2013.
Klopp saw off competition from Wolves’ boss Nuno Espirito Santo and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino, among others.
He said: “It’s nice, the icing on the cake. It was a very successful but difficult month.
“Each game felt like the most important one of the season. It was unbelievable.
“The intensity was massive but that’s what made it a special month.”
