Liverpool defender reveals new contract offer

Alberto Moreno has claimed that he has been offered a new deal by Liverpool.

Moreno became a peripheral figure in the first-team at Anfield following the arrival of Andy Robertson and has made just four appearances this season.

The defender’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign amid interest from the likes of Barcelona, Marseille and ex-club Sevilla.

But Moreno revealed that the Reds have tabled a fresh offer despite insisting that he is yet to reach a decision on his long-term future with the club or elsewhere.

“Liverpool has proposed renewing me but no agreement has been reached,” he told Onda Cero’s El Transitor show.

“In January the [transfer] market opens and we will see.”

“To this day we have nothing closed, neither with Liverpool nor with other clubs.”

Should Moreno fail to agree an extension with Liverpool, he will be free to speak to other clubs about a free transfer when the market reopens next month.
