John W Henry has backed Jurgen Klopp to end Liverpool’s trophy drought this season.
The Reds’ principal owner is already celebrating success after his Boston Red Sox baseball side swept to another World Series title in Los Angles last weekend.
Hopes of the Anfield club following suit remain as they make inroads on a first Premier League title since 1990 in addition to vying for the Champions League.
An undefeated start to the season has further strengthened Liverpool’s bid to curb a silverware drought which dates back to winning the League Cup in 2012.
Klopp’s side have reached several finals since including last season’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, which Henry believes arrived ahead of schedule.
He said: “Kiev was painful, but getting to the Champions League final, you could say we were a little ahead of schedule.
“I think that Jurgen has solved our defensive issues and we are really strong at the back and in midfield, and everyone knows how good we are upfront.”
“[Liverpool] as well is a very special team, and it could be a special season,” added Henry.
