Karius prevented from early Liverpool return

Loris Karius will not be allowed to rejoin Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Karius agreed a two-season loan with Besiktas during the summer but has struggled to impress in his first three months at the Istanbul-based outfit.

Reports in Turkey have claimed that the goalkeeper would be sent back to Anfield, where he has already been replaced as first-choice stopper by Alisson.

It had been suggested that Besiktas are also keen to draft in a new striker and identified out-of-favour Reds forward Divock Origi as a potential incoming.

But the agreement struck between Liverpool and the Super Lig outfit prevents any option to terminate the German’s stay over 18 months ahead of schedule.

Moreover, Besiktas have not made any requests that Karius’ loan spell, which includes an option to buy, is cut short or voiced displeasure at his performances.

The 25-year-old’s last competitive outing for Liverpool came in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, in which he made several costly blunders.
