Barcelona eye Firmino as Suarez replacement

Roberto Firmino has emerged as Barcelona’s latest transfer target.

The Catalans previously raided Liverpool at the start of 2018 to make a £142 million move for Firmino’s teammate and compatriot Philippe Coutinho.

But reports in Spain suggest that Barca are preparing another Anfield swoop.

According to television show ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’, Firmino is emerging as as a potential replacement for ex-Reds striker Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp.

Suarez has endured a difficult start to the season with a return of just three goals in his 11 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions.

Ironically, Firmino has recorded similar numbers for Liverpool this term.

It has also been claimed that Barcelona’s pursuit of the Brazil international has received a seal approval from Coutinho, who gave him a glowing testimony.

Since joining from Hoffenheim in 2015, Firmino, 27, has become a focal point in Liverpool’s attack under Jurgen Klopp and scored 53 goals in 155 outings.
