Liverpool are keen on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot will come face-to-face with his boyhood club when Thomas Tuchel’s side prepare to take on the Reds in the Champions League group stages.
But reports claim that the 23-year-old could soon be set for a move to Anfield.
According to ESPN, Liverpool have already contacted Rabiot’s mother and agent about a free transfer when his current deal expires next summer.
Jurgen Klopp has previously targeted the France international during his time at Borussia Dortmund and is understood to remain keen on the player.
Rabiot is yet to commit to a new contract at the Parc des Princes and has rejected several offers from the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
He would be free to negotiate a transfer to another club upon entering the final six months of his existing deal with Les Parisiens in January.
Barcelona were linked with Rabiot during the summer and are expected to renew their interest in the player in the upcoming transfer window.
Rabiot previously admitted that he had a fondness for Liverpool during his youth and harbours ambitions of someday playing in the Premier League.
