Adam Lallana has returned to Liverpool after suffering injury on England duty.
Lallana was recalled by Gareth Southgate for the UEFA Nations League clash with Spain on Saturday followed by a friendly against Switzerland.
But the Reds’ attacking midfielder was withdrawn from selection by the World Cup semi-finalists due to a groin problem sustained in training on Tuesday.
“Adam Lallana has returned to his club for further assessment of a groin strain,” confirmed an FA statement.
“The Liverpool player was withdrawn from training earlier this afternoon and will play no part in England’s forthcoming fixtures against Spain and Switzerland.”
Lallana was one of four Liverpool players included in Southgate’s 23-man squad alongside Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
