Nabil Fekir claims ‘only Liverpool know’ the truth why his transfer collapsed.
Fekir was on the verge of a £48.4 million move in June to the point of conducting an introductory interview with the club’s in-house TV channel.
But concerns over the France midfielder’s injury history delayed the move being finalised before Lyon publicly broke off negotiations with the Reds.
In the wake of his failed move, Fekir went on to feature for his country in their triumphant run to the World Cup and has returned to action with Lyon.
However the 25-year-old, who was seen as Philippe Coutinho’s direct replacement, insists Liverpool hold the answers behind his scuppered switch.
“I heard a lot of things. The real reason? Only Liverpool know,” Fekir told Foot Mercato.
“These things happen, it’s just how it is. We have to move on, it’s well in the past now.
“I have totally come to terms with the failed transfer to Liverpool.”
