Jurgen Klopp believes Trent Alexander-Arnold is ready for England’s World Cup squad.
Alexander-Arnold was crowned Liverpool’s Young Player of the Year on Thursday following a breakthrough season in the heart of defence.
The defender, 19, remains hopeful of earning a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad that will travel to the finals in Russia this summer.
And the Reds manager believes that Alexander-Arnold should be under consideration for England’s final 23-man line-up.
“I’m obviously a fan of Trent’s so that’s why he played pretty often,” said Klopp.
“He performed on a really high level, matured quickly over the last year. Mentally he was always in a good place, physically he needed to improve [and] he did.
“I’m not Gareth Southgate but if he needs a good player who can play right full-back and maybe another position as well then I think it would be a good choice.
“But it’s not up to me. I don’t think whatever I say will make it more likely or less likely.
“If Gareth thinks he needs him, then I’m sure he will be ready.”
